White skin and tan teeth.

White skin and tan teeth.

Hey Friends,

Good morning. I managed to make it to the dentist's last week.

It had only been two four(+) years since my last cleaning, it was 2017. The visit was part of an effort at refurbishing a decades-old front tooth crown. I recall getting the color correct on the fake tooth material was pretty challenging. When I suggested he could soak the tooth in coffee for 25 years, the dentist declined. I guess he wanted that final payment sooner.

Needless to say, he had some tricks up his sleeve when it came to tooth coloring so we eventually got it right.

Anyway, I was so satisfied with his expertise that I didn’t come back until 2022 when an appointment suddenly appeared on my calendar.

Thank God for wives keeping us alive!

Anyway, this makes me think about the benefits of tapping into my dentist’s expertise, versus doing my own dental research. I’ll get into that topic in a second.

But first, The News.

Personal update:

I’m keeping my eyes open for a position as a supreme court justice if you know of any openings. I’m hoping for the following qualities in a job:

  • Little to no oversight
  • Life long job security
  • Working with a small diverse team

Has anyone heard of anything?

As a side note, I heard that Justice Steven Breyer is getting out of the business.

Here’s the rest of the news:

Hot Takes

Week 4 of 2022

We’re gearing up for a WW3 and I don’t mean the third rebrand of weight watchers. Just about all countries including the US are mobilizing troops in light of Russia’s blustering toward Ukraine. Russia has built up troops near the Ukraine border even in the last day.

I could really use some decent World War quality propaganda right now.

Neal Young would rather NOT keep on rocking in a free world. He pressured Spotify to remove his music if they don’t do something about the alleged misinformation coming from Joe Rogan’s podcast. Spotify did the math and decided to keep on rockin’ with Joe.

Interest Rates Are Up! Psyche! Not really. The Fed met for a couple of days only to come out and say “we decided rates are staying the same for now". Don’t blink though. They’re still singing, and people get ready because a rate hike will come like a thief in the night.

Lately, the US economy has been sticking out like a sore thumb, because while it was throbbing from inflation, the GDP was also swelling in an attempt to offset the appearance of Biden’s shrinking approval rating. 2021 marked some serious economic growth. The most since 1984.

Meanwhile, over at Partygate. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is under scrutiny, not for a terrible haircut this time, but for having garden parties in direct violation of the rules his administration imposed on the population.

Don’t worry, he said sorry.

Swans ruin everything. London Underground trains were delayed because one stubborn swan was blocking the tracks. As a result, fourteen trains ended up flocking toward cancellation. The London Underground director was quoted as saying “ugh”.

Lastly, About Wine. I’m using this newsletter to prove that your way of opening wine is wrong. Here’s a better way according to not only the experts but also The Lorem Ipsum. Enjoy.

That’s it for the news. Now here’s The Gist.

Doing My Own Research

The Gist

I used to cut my own hair, which I’m okay at, but I once hit reboot on my whole head of hair because of a guard mistake. I’ll explain what I learned from this grooming disaster in this week’s article.

A Conflict of Interest

When it comes to things like politics, freedom, and coronavirus which at the moment are all exactly the same thing, people have decided that their expertise and google results are far more valid than that of the people who devote their whole life to the very topic they are googling.

That applies to both liberal and conservative internet users (by that I mean people who don’t keep their opinions to themselves, e.g. me).

But, I’m an optimist, and I have a simple solution.

Read The Article Here.

Well, folks, that’s it for this week.

Have a great weekend!
