This week, the Groundhog definitely saw his shadow, and they say that means we’ll have six more weeks of winter. But is that really true?
To be honest, I’m not sure if I can trust Punxsutawney Phil. As his critics have pointed out, he has been found to spread misinformation in the past, so I think we should cancel him.
You know, people really have been doing a lot of canceling lately. Canceling books, canceling podcasts, canceling music.
I’m going to talk about that in a minute. But first, The News.
Week 5 of 2022
The Year of the Tiger. The Bengals and the Rams are playing the Super Bowl together. The Bengals are heading to The Ram’s home stadium in Los Angeles so I hope they start the long drive soon. Since the Bengals haven’t played a Bowl (at least not a Super one) since the 80s, fans are hoping the Chinese calendar animal is serendipitous.
Meta sneezed and all of tech felt obligated to say ‘bless you’. What I mean is that the Facebook parent company announced a loss and their stock took a nose dive. Then so did lots of other tech companies. It’s mainly just because they can’t track your every move though, so fine.
Depends on what the meaning of ISIS. The US conducted a raid in Syria, killing the leader of ISIS. Last time the US did a raid in Syria it was to kill the previous leader in 2019, so I guess we’ll see you in three years.
Also, get this. Critics pointed out that some of the special forces were not wearing N95 masks, can you believe that? Ugh.
Ripped Up. Trump’s team drafted two executive orders to seize voting machines in his effort to mark the election as fraudulent. Other documents which had been turned over were found torn up by President Trump.
If the Trump administration had ever heard of a shredder, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.
Putin is Tootin’. Basically, Vlad is saying “it’s not me, it’s you” to the US. He thinks Washington is the one igniting tensions between Russia and Ukraine–obviously not because of Russia’s large mobilization of troops toward the Ukrainian borders. Putin has also admitted he’s been getting cute with China lately, to which most analysts recite the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. song.
Ship or get off the pot. Canadian Truckers have been occupying Ottowa since Saturday in a protest aboot vaccine mandates. It’s still going, but the total numbers have waned (I guess some of them had loads to deliver).
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is claiming that the protesters are dropping loads (yes poop, but also mostly racism-related symbols) on some of the property in the Capitol city including graffiti and confederate flags.
The Steaks are Low. As in there is a steak shortage at a Golden Corral that leads to a brawl between two groups of guests. The winners will need to use those steaks to treat their black eyes because it got pretty rough.
The following video shows guests throwing high chairs at each other in front of a backdrop of unlimited instant mashed potatoes. The guests did not leave a tip for the staff either, BTW.
That’s it for the news this week. Here’s The Gist.
Who is this “Miss Information” people keep talking about? It seems like there’s been a competition over who’s information is better and who’s should be on the banned list. I feel like everyone thinks their information is more beautiful than anyone else’s.
Warning Labels and Banning Laws
With pomp and circumstance, politically charged voices so often shut down the opposing view, distracting us from its merits. But that just means that we miss that the people we want to disagree with might just have a point. So should we be banning books and podcasts? Read The Article Here.
As for you and me…
I will always listen to your point of view, even if we don’t agree. Reply with your feedback and thoughts anytime.
